Two Feathers Lodge on the Dearborn River, near Missouri River Canyon & Craig, MT

Floating the Dearborn River

The Dearborn River begins in the Scapegoat Wilderness Area in the Rocky Mountains.

It traces its 67 miles through pristine and scenic carved canyons before its confluence with the Missouri River, west of Craig, Montana.

Our vacation rental cabin on the Dearborn River is ~2 miles upstream from the Missouri River.

The Dearborn River courses mainly thru privately owned ranches so public access is limited.

When river flows permit, put in at the closest public access (~19 miles upstream) & float all-day thru incredible nature to our cabin.

The next day you can put in at our property, float ~2 miles to the Missouri River Canyon & continue on for miles.

In front of our property, the River is calm during lower water flows and has several very pleasant swimming holes.

More challenging water can be found upstream, e.g. one stretch is ~3 miles upstream in a place the locals call the "Rock Garden".

July in the "Rock Garden"

Many elect to portage of this stretch.
